Dominquie Josey is a native of Hickory, North Carolina. She studied at North Carolina Central University and Strayer University, from which she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and a Master’s in Education.

Her passion for serving others is what sparked her aspiration to become a teacher. She noted that her mom told her she had "a gift for talking too much." Going to college to become a teacher changed her life. Dominquie expresses how rewarding teaching is and how it gives her a sense that she is making the world a better place one student at a time. Her teaching philosophy is, each child can learn in their own unique way.

Teaching at a Title 1 middle school with a high poverty rate and 96% of students on free and reduced lunch, convinced her that what they needed first and foremost was someone who cared. Her concern is reflected in the relationships she builds with her students, as she helps them to find their dreams and strengths so they can believe in themselves the way she believes in them.

Lady Josey is married to her partner in life and ministry, Pastor LaMont C. Josey.
